I did email SpiderOak but I haven't (yet?) had any response. So I am concerned that I'm misunderstanding what's going on here and I'd rather not go changing system resource limits without making sure I have understood what's going on. That is, I don't get an error saying there's no space or anything - the system just watches as asked. However, I can add new watches on things with no issue.
